The World-Herald’s Stu Pospisil has dubbed the newspaper’s columnist, Tom Shatel, “the Terrance Crawford of Sportswriters.”

The sobriquet appeared Jan. 18 as Shatel was in Miami to be inducted into the College Football Sportswriting Hall of Fame.

The story announcing his entry mentioned the friendship he has with Dennis Dodd going back to their time together on the Missourian student newspaper.

Dodd retired in April after 27 years with CBS Sports concluding 40 years of sports reporting.

Dodd and Shatel joined The World-Herald in 1991, but Dodd’s much shorter stay is usually not mentioned brief summations of his career.
