Passport Program Memo Delayed

Visit North Omaha Visitor Center on a Friday afternoon, and you may be introducing the news of its participation in the Nebraska Passport program.

That was the case for the Bobsseniorblog.com writer. Employes were not aware of its selection for the program.

A caveat—Preston Love, the manager of the Center, was not in. Further, not until May 1 will travelers visit the passport attractions and collect their stamps. The program will continue through Sept. 30.

Visit Nebraska announced this year’s 70 Nebraska Passport stops this month.

“The Nebraska Passport is our signature in-state marketing program, and it’s one of the most fun things we do all year,” Visit Nebraska Executive Director Jean Gjerde told The World-Herald.

The Visitor Center, 2205 N. 24th St., features a wall mural with images of North Omaha notables, including Mayor John Ewiing. The location sells refreshments and gift shop items tied to the area.

In the rear conference room, former World-Herald reporter Nancy Gaarner was at work  when the blog visited. In her three years since leaving the paper, her byline has moved to other news media.
