Confounded by The World-Herald’s publishing Midlands Voices columns that mention two of the Democratic candidates for the 2nd District congressional seat?
We believe the November ballot with feature a race between Republican Brinker Harding and Democrat John Cavanaugh. Are they mentioned?
Named on the Opinion page of May 7 are Denise Powell and Kishla Askins, two of the seven Democratic candidates. Brinker is unopposed.
Luis A. Miranda is the Midlands Voice whose column is headlined, “Latino voters will help shape which party holds power.” He describes Powell as “capable, prepared and arrives with a serious work plan for the community she seeks to serve.”
Askins wrote the other Midlands Voice column, “Nebraska voters deserve to look beyond the ads.” Campaigns, she writes, are “operating in an environment that looks very different from the one most Nebraskans expect.”
She continues, “A significant amount of money has poured into this race from outside Nebraska.”
