UCLA Dominates CWS Choices

Unsuspecting World-Herald readers on Feb. 10 were reminded the 76th College World Series would arrive in June.

“Until then,” the story read, “all eight spots are open.

“Each week during the college baseball season, World-Herald writer Evan Bland will offer up schools showing signs of qualifying for The Greastest Show on Dirt. Seven leading contenders, plus a sleeper pick.”

The saga has continued through May 20. The 15-week run has named 41 schools including sleepers. Only UCLA made every listing of the “Omaha Eight.”

Only UCLA and North Carolina were in both the first and on May 20 Exclusive of the sleeper, Bland’s latest Omaha Eight had Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas. Texas A&M and West Virginia.
